Shopify Ecommerce - Kawas Coffee
I led the design and technical development of Kawas Coffee's new ecommerce, migrating the site from Jumpseller to Shopify. Kawas is a Chilean specialty coffee roaster, and the goal was to build a platform that reflected the brand's craft-driven identity while significantly improving flexibility, performance, and the overall shopping experience.
Starting from Kawas's existing brand identity, which had no visual system defined for web, I designed the site's full visual system and implemented it end-to-end in Shopify — product architecture, metafields, checkout, and shipping logistics. Alongside DayTripper, who developed the brand narrative and copywriting, I structured the project into six phases: technical diagnostics, content and product data, homepage and key pages, marketing and payment integrations, full purchase-flow testing, and domain connection and launch. Technical highlights included building a custom shipping method for the roaster's own delivery route alongside a third-party courier, and configuring metafields to automate structured product data (origin, varietal, altitude, process) across the catalog.
The site launched in time for Expo Café, the country's leading specialty coffee trade event, giving Kawas a stronger digital presence and a scalable foundation for future features like subscriptions.
